Asp is the creature whose hole a child approaches in an oracle of peace. The “sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp” (2 Nephi 21:8).
The image is repeated in a later prophecy, where “the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’s den” beside the child at the asp’s hole (2 Nephi 30:14).
