Church Discipline

Church Discipline is the rejection or removal of church members who did not repent and confess their sins. Those who would not “confess their sins and repent of their iniquity” were not numbered among the people of the church, and their names were blotted out (Mosiah 26:36).

Among the church, those who did not repent of wickedness and humble themselves before God were rejected, and their names were not numbered “among those of the righteous” (Alma 6:3). A person found to commit iniquity could be condemned before the elders by “three witnesses of the church” (Moroni 6:1-9).

If the person did not repent and confess, they were not numbered among the people of Christ. Those who repented and sought forgiveness “with real intent” were forgiven (Moroni 6:1-9).
