Lightning

Lightning is associated with thunderings, storms, tempests, and quakings of the earth. “There were exceedingly sharp lightnings, such as never had been known in all the land” (3 Nephi 8:7).

In the land northward, “the whole face of the land was changed” because of tempests, whirlwinds, thunderings, lightnings, and quaking (3 Nephi 8:12). “The thunderings, and the lightnings, and the storm, and the tempest, and the quakings of the earth did cease” after about three hours, and darkness came upon the face of the land (3 Nephi 8:17-19).
