Ornaments

Ornaments are items of personal adornment that include “tinkling ornaments, and cauls, and round tires like the moon.” The Lord will take away the bravery of these items (2 Nephi 13:18). The same judgment encompasses “the chains and the bracelets, and the mufflers” (2 Nephi 13:19).

Other adornments include “the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the ear-rings” (2 Nephi 13:20). Rings and nose jewels are included as well (2 Nephi 13:21). Clothing and accessories subject to the same reversal include “the changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping-pins” (2 Nephi 13:22).

Costly apparel also accompanied unequal wealth among the Nephites. Jacob addressed those who had obtained more than their brethren and consequently wore “stiff necks and high heads because of the costliness of your apparel” while persecuting others (Jacob 2:13).
