Walls are structures enclosing cities, temples, and prisons. Nephi caused his brothers to hide “without the walls” while he crept into the city by night and went toward Laban’s house (1 Nephi 4:5). King Benjamin could not teach the multitude “within the walls of the temple,” so he caused a tower to be erected (Mosiah 2:7).
The walls of the city of Lehi-Nephi and the city of Shilom were repaired as buildings were constructed (Mosiah 9:8). People were prepared to cast stones “from the top thereof” at anyone who attempted to approach near the walls of the city (Alma 50:5). People were let down into a city by night with strong cords and ladders, and by morning were “within the walls of the city” (Alma 62:23).
The walls of the prison holding Alma and Amulek “were rent in twain” and fell to the earth (Alma 14:27). Alma and Amulek came forth from the prison “and they were not hurt” (Alma 14:28). In another prison, the walls shook as if they were about to tumble, and those in the prison were Lamanites and Nephites who were dissenters (Helaman 5:27).
