Les anges sont venus à Néphi

In the narrative of the Book of Mormon, angels play a pivotal role in the life of Nephi, a prominent prophet and leader among the Nephite people. Nephi recounts an instance where divine messengers, or angels, ministered unto him as a testament to his faith and diligence in prayer. “And by day have I waxed bold in mighty prayer before him; yea, my voice have I sent up on high; and angels came down and ministered unto me” (2 Ne. 4:24). These ministrations provided Nephi with guidance, comfort, and possibly further instruction in his responsibilities as a leader, prophet, and record keeper.

However, the validity of Nephi’s interactions with angelic beings was called into question by his elder brother Laman, who accused Nephi of deceiving the family and using such claims to manipulate them for personal gain. “Now, he says that the Lord has talked with him, and also that angels have ministered unto him. But behold, we know that he lies unto us; and he tells us these things, and he worketh many things by his cunning arts, that he may deceive our eyes” (1 Ne. 16:38). Despite Laman’s accusations, the scriptural accounts affirm the presence of angels as divine emissaries who had a significant impact on Nephi’s leadership and spiritual experiences, revealing the heavens’ direct interest and involvement in the affairs of Nephi and his people.
