Lamoni’s Father’s Servants

The servants in the household of King Lamoni’s father played a pivotal role during a dramatic event involving Aaron and his brethren. After the king was struck down by the power of God and lay as if dead, his servants quickly informed the queen of the unusual occurrence. Upon receiving this news, the queen entered the scene and, perceiving the situation as a threat, became angry with Aaron and his companions. She commanded her servants, or those of the king, to slay Aaron and his brethren. Despite the queen’s orders, the servants refused to carry out the command to kill Aaron and his brethren, demonstrating a notable restraint or hesitation in obeying the queen’s impulsive orders. This act indicated the servants’ recognition of the unusual circumstances surrounding the incident and their unwillingness to shed innocent blood, which allowed for further resolution and understanding to take place among the parties involved (Alma 22:19).
