Houses are dwellings occupied by individuals and families. After King Benjamin dismissed the multitude, each person returned “according to their families, to their own houses” (Mosiah 6:3). After a Nephite battle, survivors returned “to their lands, and to their houses, and their wives, and their children” (Alma 3:1).
People in the land northward built and lived in “houses of cement” because there was little timber on the land (Helaman 3:7). They allowed trees to grow so that they might later have timber “to build their houses, yea, their cities, and their temples” (Helaman 3:9).
Ammon and his brethren entered houses to teach, alongside teaching in streets, hills, temples, and synagogues (Alma 26:29). Alma instructed the people to “Cry unto him in your houses, yea, over all your household, both morning, mid-day, and evening” (Alma 34:21).
