Roots and Herbs are the “many plants and roots” whose qualities limited deaths from seasonal fevers. Some people died from fevers that were “very frequent in the land” during certain seasons (Alma 46:40).
God had prepared those plants and roots “to remove the cause of diseases” to which people were subject because of the climate. Their use rested on “the excellent qualities of the many plants and roots” (Alma 46:40).
