Minon

Terre des Nephites sur la rive ouest de la rivière Sidon

Minon

Minon is a geographical location situated in the Nephite territory, specified as being just to the west of the River Sidon, and described as being “above the land of Zarahemla, in the course of the land of Nephi” (Alma 2:24). Minon gains specific mention in the context of a significant military encounter, during which the Nephite forces, under the leadership of Alma2, encountered overwhelming evidence of a forthcoming threat: the spies of Alma2 bore witness to both Nephite refugees in flight and a formidable coalition of Lamanite and Amlicite forces amassing in the land of Minon. This alarming observation filled Alma2’s spies with astonishment and fear, as it heralded a grave challenge to Nephite security and the peace of the surrounding regions (Alma 2:21-25). The textual reference to Minon is brief, offering little by way of detailed description of the land; however, the recorded event underscores its strategic importance, particularly as a barometer of military movements and looming conflict between Nephite and opposing forces.
