Élam

Elam is referenced in the Book of Mormon as part of a prophecy by the prophet Nephi, who quotes Isaiah and includes Elam among the regions from which the Lord would gather the remnant of His people in the last days (2 Nephi 21:11). This passage reflects the belief that in the latter days, a restoration and gathering of scattered Israel would occur, with the remnant of the Lord’s people being assembled from various corners of the earth. Although the Book of Mormon provides little detail about Elam’s role beyond this mention, the location’s inclusion in this scriptural list suggests that it held a place within the broader geographical consciousness of the Nephites regarding the dispersion of the House of Israel. Elam, in this prophetic context, represents one of the distant lands which would play a part in the divine plan for the gathering of scattered Israel, indicative of the Lord’s reach and the covenantal promises extending to all parts of the world.
